Obviously there have been many challenges and changes afoot all over Bali with the pandemic, but it was fantastic to see Mamasan on Jalan Kerobokan still serving great food and dining experience. I was there on a recent, wet and woolly Tuesday evening and nothing much has changed; the décor warm and inviting, the service impeccable and the dishes and drinks were served with the same standards as they have been since day one.

Keeping those standards must be the main challenge for F&B right now, and I’m happy to report, Mamasan is doing a great job and everything we experienced was exemplary―as always. Chef Will Meyrick may well be out of the country for the moment but his excellent South East Asian cuisine with its delicious sauces is being well cared for by Thai chef, Sittinan Sope, who is holding the fort. Cocktails and desserts were all consumed with glee as my partner and I chatted into the evening. I love the classy Asian style furnishings from the glass lantern lights and chase lounge style bench seating to the warm, dark timber used throughout. Mamasan has a definite style, much copied around the planet, but seldom properly achieved.

As we waited for our valet car out the front I was thinking to myself, it is great to see things holding up well at Mamasan. Congratulations to them and I recommend anyone reading this to get down there tonight to experience one of the finer Asian meals available on the island.

Mamasan is open for lunch, dinner and serves evening tapas.
