Minimal, confident, luxe-retro – Bali-based SWF label might only be three years old, but is already making waves way outside of just Indonesian waters. Desiree Deravi, a self-taught Australian designer/ jetsetter, dove into the rag trade without any prior experience. Now she wholesales all across the land down under and the US market loves her designs as well.
SWF’s versatile, timeless classic pieces are for those days when you don’t have time to change after work, but still want to look effortlessly stylish and elegant. SWF allows you to just style the outfit up by pairing it with high heels and you are good to take a night on the town.
“I don’t like trends. Just because someone says something is en vogue it doesn’t mean it works for everyone. Be comfortable and confident in your own skin and with what you wear – confidence is the key,” comments the energetic designer on what fashion means to her.
Bali offers a constant source of inspiration for her work – technicolour sunsets, bright offerings – you have a colour palette right there! Her creative process is crazy and unplanned. “There is no rhythm or reason, the hardest part for me is to cull a collection,” she adds.
Desire’s absolute favourite piece is a onsie and it has become a cornerstone of each SWF collection, as she above all demands versatility from her clothing. Functional features she infuses into all her designs. The SWF range presents free flowing fabrics, which are tailored to achieve a more structured silhuoutte. Signature Japanese-inspired prints spice up each season’s collection applied by a classic woodblock printing technique.
Ideally she sees herself building a global brand for people to embrace and love just as much as she does.
So, whether you are an island babe or a city girl, there is something out there in SWF collection for you that Desire has pulled out from her imagination and brought into existence in “collaboration” with Bali.
